This farmhouse-style bed and breakfast offers rustic accommodation in Hillcrest’s natural lanscape. The family-run guest house features an outdoor pool surrounded by a terracotta sundeck and lush gardens.

The Fawncastle Estate offers an in-house restaurant, where a full English breakfast is served daily. The hotel’s garden features barbecue facilities and hammocks to enjoy the fresh air.

All rooms have a lodge-style décor, featuring wooden furniture and coloured, quilted blankets. They include TVs with satellite channels and DVD players. A microwave and an electric kettle are provided for the basic cooking needs of guests.

The Fawncastle is set on the edge of The Valley of a Thousand Hills, where unspoilt nature and traditional villages can be found. For some night entertainment, guests can take the 25-minute drive to downtown Durban.

Travel information
Coming out of the airport or from the North Coast

- Take the N3 towards Pietermaritzburg.
- After the Pavillion Shopping centre on the left, the road splits between the N3 and the M13.
- Follow the M13, though Pinetown, and up Fields Hill.
- Go through Kloof, and look for Junction 28, Hillcrest / Old Main Road.
- Do not take the Pinetown Old Main Road, which is before Fields Hill. Take Hillcrest / Old Main Road, and at the top of the off ramp, turn right.
- This is Old Main Road, Hillcrest.
- Go through approximately 6 sets of traffic lights. At the 7th, which is the major intersection just after the “Pick ‘n Pay” on your right, turn right.
- This is Inanda Road and is signposted to the direction of Waterfall.
- When you have turned right, travel along Inanda Road and pass 3 roads (the second being Elangeni and the third is Garden) both of which turn off to the left.
- Fawncastle Estate is on the corner of the 4th turnoff (Mill Road) on the left.
