Travel informationSwellendam is situated just off the N2, 240 km from Cape Town or 160 km from Mossel Bay. The main entrances to the town lead into Swellendam's main street: Voortrek Street.
From Cape Town:
- Take the West entrance into Swellendam
- Drive 3.2 km along the main street.
- Just after the famous NG white church the main street splits; take the left fork for 30 metres.
- Turn left into Human Street.
- Well signposted with the image of Augusta de Mist, the building is just visible through the trees.
- Following the signs brings you into the garden where parking is secure, shaded and close to your accommodation.
From George:
- Take the East entrance into Swellendam via the main street.
- Approximately 500 metres from where the buildings start, you will pass on your left La Belle Aliance tea garden.
- After the small bridge turn right, left and right again into Human Street, all are within approximately 30 metres of each other.
- Then follow the instructions above.
Sugarbush Heritage Room
This room has a double bed and a private bathroom with a shower. It is decorated with yellow wooden shutters and beams, a handmade terracotta tiled floor and reed ceilings. The veranda in front of the room overlooks the garden. The Sugarbush Heritage Room room is next to the breakfast area.
Aloe Garden Suite
This garden suite is right next to Protea in the old Coach House, and has 2 single beds. There is a lounge with a fireplace and French doors which open onto a private patio with a view of the garden. The Aloe Garden Suite is also ideal for families.
Arum Lily Garden Cottage
This luxury cottage is built in the old style with thick walls and reed ceilings. The bedroom has a king-size bed, and the bathroom contains double basins, a spa bath and a large walk-in shower. There is a lounge which features a fire place and a private patio with a view of the garden. Private parking is also available. This room is the same size as its sister cottage, Agapanthus.
Protea Garden Suite
The main bedroom has a queen-size bed. Off the main bedroom there is a smaller bedroom with a double bed. Both rooms feature an entrance to the bathroom which contains a Victorian bath and a separate shower. There is also a lounge with a fireplace.
This room can accommodate up to 3 Adults. Supplement charges are applicable for additional occupancy. Children are charged at a set rate of R375.
Strelitzia Garden Cottage
This private garden suite has a queen-size bed. The romantic bathroom contains a big bath and separate shower. There is a lounge with a fireplace. The suite features ochre floors and a reed ceiling.
The French doors open onto a private patio overlooking the garden. Strelitzia Garden Cottage is very close to the pool. This cottage is a historical building where roses used to be cut and stored when the estate was a small rose farm.
Agapanthus Garden Cottage
This luxury cottage is built in the old style with thick walls and reed ceilings. The bedroom houses a king-size bed, and the bathrooms contain double basins, a spa bath and a large walk-in shower. The lounge features a fire place, and there is a private patio with garden views. This private cottage has its own parking.
Honeybush Heritage Suite
This suite has a queen-size bed and a private bathroom with a walk-in shower and a bath tub. It is decorated with yellow wooden shutters and beams, a handmade terracotta tiled floor and reed ceilings. The veranda in front of the room overlooks the garden. The Honeybush Heritage Suite also boasts a private reading room with views over the park-like garden. A young child can sleep in the reading room.
Cancellation Policy
If cancelled up to 22 days before date of arrival, no fee will be charged.
If cancelled up to 15 days before date of arrival, 50 percent of total price of the reservation will be charged.
If cancelled up to 8 days before date of arrival, 75 percent of total price of the reservation will be charged.
If cancelled later or in case of no-show, 100 percent of total price of the reservation will be charged.
Deposit Policy
50 percent of the total amount will be charged on the day of booking.
Children and Extra Bed Policy
All children are welcome.
One child from 0 to 2 years stays free of charge in a baby cot.
All children from 2 to 12 years are charged 50 % of the room stay per night per person when using existing beds.
